January 22, 2008 - That 'Corey' thing
What is it about the whole 'Corey' phenomenon? The 16 yo dill from Narre Warren held a party at his home whilst his parents were away... we've all done that. Except that 500 turned up to Corey's do and some of his guests were, perhaps, a bit 'enthusiastic. This Spin checks out the amazing coverage given to this issue, around the world. And did a bit of an experiment last weekend with Corey II. It's amazing what a pair of yellow sunnies, a fur-lined hoodie and some black shorts can do.
So, would the real Corey please stand up....

Here is THAT photo of Jean Shrimpton from 1965. It horrified the conservative Flemington crowd and became a definitive photo of the 60's. Check out the twin sets, pearls and hats in the background. NO stockings, NO hat and NO gloves... HORROR.

JOY's long-awaited new Station Manager/CEO has been announced. His first interview was on The Spin. Stephen Hahn, ex Radio 3RRR, has been engaged by the Board of JOY FM to take on the huge responsibility of propelling JOY into its next era of success.
JOY has now been on air for 13 amazing years. Paul Terdich, the past Station Manager, took JOY from 'just another community radio station' to being a significant player in the Melbourne radio market, making a considerable contribution to the lives and lifestyle of our gay and lesbian community.
Patrick and Tim spoke to Stephen Hahn only hours after his appointment. Stephen expressed his interest in news and current affairs and believed it was important for JOY to continue nurturing its development of such programs.

The Spin is back for its third season on air. You may have noticed a few changes around the program.... new introduction, new program jingles, more topics and more chance for YOU to have your say.
A big thank you to JOY for believing in the program for another three months. We are hoping that we will be with you right through the summer and beyond into 2008.

Australian TV and radio 'stalwart' (he HATES that title), John Blackman, was The Spin's special guest on Tuesday, August 7. John spent the whole hour keeping us amused as we waded through much of his amazing media career spanning nearly 38 years.
We look forward to another great hour of entertainment with a man who has inspired many of radio's greatest stars.
Best known as the VOICE of Hey, Hey it's Saturday, John has held down a number of high-rating radio positions. His time doing the breakfast program on Melbourne's 3AW with side-kick Uncle Roy (Bruce Mansfield) was an enormously successful radio partnership. Certainly John would be one of Australia's most popular voices in radio. Currently he is headlining the popular 5MMM brekky program in Adelaide.
John has threatened to return to The Spin one day.
